Wei Qian
Graduated from School of Art in Fuzhou 1975.
Bachelor of Science from Fujian Teacher's University 1982.
Master of Professional Accountancy from University of Canberra 1997.
Wei loved and studied ancient Chinese literature and art from childhood. During the Cultural Revolution, she learned traditional Chinese Brush Painting from various local artists privately. Awarded a place to study in the School of Art, Fuzhou after attending Fujian Youth Painting Exhibition in 1973. After graduation worked in a large clothing factory in charge of designing posters to "inspire the workers to greater effort."
Wei has been living in Canberra since 1988, believing she had left her artistic opportunities behind in China. Now that she has established herself in a new land and achieved what can be achieved career wise, Wei has taken a new approach, totally different from her long-term conservative view, and decided to share her art work with the public.
